OSGi™ Alliance 2004 World Congress as Bronze Level Sponsors
Telematics, Residential and Mobile leaders support
October industry forum in Barcelona
San Ramon, CA. - September 20, 2004 - The OSGi™ Alliance today
announced that Gatespace Telematics, Nokia and ProSyst Software have become
Bronze-level sponsors of the
OSGi Alliance 2004 World Congress. Adding
these key software and hardware companies to the roster of sponsors
underscores the title of this year's event: Convergence: Going Mobile,
Driving, and Staying Home with OSGi Solutions. The OSGi Alliance 2004
World Congress, which takes place October 11-15, 2004 in Barcelona, Spain
is an exhibition and
conference featuring workshops, keynote presentations,
panel sessions and exhibits displaying the latest OSGi enabled products and
solutions in mobile, automotive, and home environments.
The OSGi Service Platform has evolved since 1999 as a standardized,
component oriented, computing environment for network services in home,
commercial buildings, automotive and industrial environments. Gatespace
Telematics, Nokia, and ProSyst are all key contributors for engineering
resources toward the advancement of OSGi technology and are proud to
sponsor and participate as speakers in the third annual World Congress.
There has been a surge of interest in OSGi technology based solutions
globally, and having the backing of key Global technology companies like
Gatespace Telematics, Nokia, and ProSyst will help ensure the success for
this signature event in Barcelona, said Deepak Kamlani, Executive Director
of the OSGi Alliance. Kamlani attributes the growth in interest to vehicle
Telematics, mobile devices and open source software solutions based on OSGi
technology, and according to Kamlani, examples of accelerating activity in
the OSGi technology arena abound.
- Gatespace Telematics recently announced an OSGi compliant open source
implementation of their Ubiserv service platform aimed at the automotive
and mobile industries. The open source based Ubiserv is a key component in
developing future standards for Telematics and is used in several ongoing
R&D projects, e.g the EU funded GST project in which Gatespace Telematics
plays a key role as a member of the core architecture group and the open
systems sub project.
- Nokia is the world leader in mobile communications, driving the growth
and sustainability of the broader mobility industry. The company is actively
involved in the OSGi Alliance's Mobile Expert Group (MEG). The MEG was
recently formed to tailor the OSGi Service Platform for mobile devices
that are data-capable and connect to wireless networks, and numerous sessions
and presentations at the OSGi Alliance 2004 World Congress will be devoted
to work underway in this area.
- ProSyst is also actively involved in the OSGi Alliance's expert groups,
like the Mobile Expert Group or the Vehicle Expert Group, and supports the
further development of the OSGi specifications with its technical and business
expertise. In addition to its smart home solutions, ProSyst Software is a
key player in the GST consortium, a European-funded Telematics project that
began in March 2004 and was coordinated by Ertico along with other partners
including Fiat, Volvo, Daimler Chrysler and Siemens VDO. ProSyst supports
the coordination between the two organizations and the further development
by providing its Telematics expertise and OSGi-based software.
The Hilton Barcelona is the host hotel for all conference sessions and
exhibitions. Pre and post conference workshops are offered on October 11
and 15, with the three-day Congress covering business, vertical products
and solutions, and technology on October 12-14, with parallel tracks focusing
on Automotive Electronics, Connected Home, and Mobile and Wireless Devices.
